Question 1

What is Time to Moto?

Accepted Answer

Time to Moto is a motorcycle app built for riders. It combines route planning with round trips on demand, turn-by-turn voice navigation, crash detection, Live Share, Scout as an AI assistant that ties it all together, weather along your route, garage management, and an AI-written summary of every ride. Free during the beta.

Question 2

What makes it different from other navigation apps?

Accepted Answer

Most apps move you from A to B. Time to Moto adds Scout, which plans your route, reads your garage, checks weather along the road, and can alert your emergency contacts if something goes wrong. It is built around how riders actually ride, not just how they drive.

Question 3

Does it work on Android?

Accepted Answer

iOS only right now. Android is on the roadmap.

Question 4

What iPhone models are supported?

Accepted Answer

Any iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later.

Question 5

Do I need an internet connection?

Accepted Answer

You need internet for route planning, weather, Scout, map tiles, and Live Share. Crash detection and ride recording work offline using your phone's GPS and accelerometer. Any ride recorded without signal saves locally and syncs when you reconnect.

Question 6

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

Time to Moto is in beta through TestFlight. If you're in the Break-In Crew, you'll get a TestFlight invite by email. Tap it, install TestFlight if you don't have it, then install Time to Moto and sign in.

Question 7

How do I update the app?

Accepted Answer

Updates come through TestFlight during the beta. Open TestFlight and tap Update, or turn on automatic updates for Time to Moto inside TestFlight.

Question 8

Can I change units to metric?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Go to Settings and set your preferred units for distance, temperature, and fuel capacity. The app updates everywhere, stats bar, route summary, weather display, trip planner, and garage specs.

Question 9

What is the Routes tab?

Accepted Answer

The Routes tab is the fourth tab in the app, alongside Ride, Plan, and Garage. It holds all your saved and recorded rides organized by category. Search, import GPX files, and tap any card to open the full detail screen with a map, stats, AI summary, and action buttons.

Question 10

What is a round trip?

Accepted Answer

A loop that starts and ends at the same place. Pick a distance from 20 to 250 miles, choose a direction and a style, and the app builds the route.

Question 11

What's the difference between scenic and adventure?

Accepted Answer

Scenic prefers paved roads with more character than the highway. Adventure mixes in gravel and dirt where it can. Conditions and access change, so check before you ride, and stay off private or closed land.

Question 12

Can I get a round trip anywhere?

Accepted Answer

Most places with enough roads to make a loop. If an area is too sparse for the distance you picked, the app tells you and suggests a longer distance or a different start.

Question 13

Does the app give turn-by-turn directions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Voice guidance calls out turns ahead of time, and the screen stays on while you navigate.

Question 14

What route modes are available?

Accepted Answer

Fastest, scenic, or adventure. Scenic prefers paved roads with more character than the highway. Adventure mixes in gravel and dirt where it can. Switch between them anytime and the route recalculates instantly.

Question 15

Can I add stops to my route?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Add stops in the Trip Planner, by asking Scout, or while actively navigating using the search icon or a long press on the map. Routes support up to 23 waypoints.

Question 16

Can I plan a route for a future departure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Set a departure date and time in the Trip Planner before building your route. Weather along the route will reflect conditions at your planned departure window, not right now. Plan up to 16 days out, with a heads-up when the forecast gets less reliable past a week.

Question 17

Can I see weather along my route?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Weather is sampled at multiple points across your entire route, temperature, wind, rain chance, and visibility, not just at the start or destination. A severity badge summarizes the worst condition along the full route.

Question 18

What is the weather radar overlay?

Accepted Answer

Toggle it from the map controls. It shows real-time precipitation radar updated every 10 minutes. If the overlay looks clear where you are looking, that means no precipitation in that area.

Question 19

What map styles are available?

Accepted Answer

Satellite, Terrain, Standard, and Dark. Switch between them anytime from the map controls, including mid-ride.

Question 20

What overlays can I turn on?

Accepted Answer

Weather radar, Gas Stations, Food, Road Conditions, and Federal Land Roads (MVUM and BLM). Toggle them from the map layer controls in both the Ride and Plan tabs. In the Trip Planner, tap any gas station or food pin to see its name, address, and distance. Add it as a stop or set it as your destination directly from the map. Road Conditions cover closures, construction, and hazards along your route.

Question 21

Can I add a stop while I'm already navigating?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The search icon turns green during navigation. Tap it to search for a stop, or long press anywhere on the map to drop a point and add it to your route. You can also ask Scout mid-ride. Every added stop shows as a numbered marker on the map, green for upcoming, gray for passed. When you get close to a stop, the app marks it as passed and moves on.

Question 22

Can I edit a route after planning it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Drag any marker to reposition it, remove stops from the waypoint list, or long press anywhere on the map to add a new point. Ask Scout to add, remove, or change stops. Your route stays in the Trip Planner after you start navigating and is only cleared when you tap Clear Trip or plan a new one.

Question 23

Can I import routes from other apps?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Import any GPX file using the GPX button in the Routes tab. Full geometry is preserved, including off-road and unpaved sections. The route is never snapped to roads and is ready to navigate immediately after import.

Question 24

Can I edit an imported route in the Trip Planner?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open any imported route in the Trip Planner to check weather and road conditions along it. The original geometry loads intact. If you drag a waypoint, add a stop, or change a destination, that segment recalculates automatically, expected behavior for any manual edit.

Question 25

How do I save a route?

Accepted Answer

Tap the save icon in the Trip Planner after planning, or ask Scout to save it. Name it and organize it in your Routes tab.

Question 26

Can I share a planned route?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Export any route as a GPX file from the Routes tab and share it anywhere via the iOS share sheet. For recorded rides, tap Share Ride to generate a visual card with your satellite map, AI summary, and stats.

Question 27

Can I download routes for offline use?

Accepted Answer

Offline maps are on the roadmap and not yet available. Navigation and map tiles require an internet connection.

Question 28

What are Road Conditions?

Accepted Answer

Road Conditions shows live incidents along your planned route: closures, construction, and hazards. Conditions are matched to your actual route, filtered to the last 14 days, and sorted by severity.

Question 29

What is the maximum number of waypoints?

Accepted Answer

23 stops per route.

Question 30

How do I set up emergency contacts?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings and tap Emergency Contacts. Add up to three contacts from your phone's contact list or enter them manually. You can designate a primary contact and update your list at any time.

Question 31

Which contacts get notified during a ride?

Accepted Answer

You choose before each ride. The pre-ride checklist lets you select which emergency contacts to activate for that session. You can use different contacts for different rides.

Question 32

What is Live Share?

Accepted Answer

Live Share generates a link and automatically sends it to your selected contacts via text (and an email, if they have one on file) the moment your ride starts, no extra step needed from you. Your selected contacts can open the link in any browser on any device and follow your location in real time. No app or account required on their end. The link deactivates when your ride ends.

Question 33

How does crash detection work?

Accepted Answer

When enabled, Time to Moto monitors your phone's accelerometer for a G-force spike above 4G followed by 2 seconds of stillness, the pattern of a real crash. That triggers a 60-second countdown. Scout speaks to you and asks if you are okay. Tap I'm OK, say "I'm okay" to cancel, or say "help" to send alerts right away. If 60 seconds pass with no response, text alerts go to your selected contacts with your exact GPS coordinates.

Question 34

Can I say "I'm okay" instead of tapping the button?

Accepted Answer

Yes. During the countdown, say "I'm okay" to cancel. Say "help" to send the alert right away.

Question 35

Does crash detection run automatically?

Accepted Answer

No. You turn it on from the ride screen or the pre-ride checklist before each ride.

Question 36

Can I use crash detection without recording a ride?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Crash detection and ride recording are independent. You can run one without the other.

Question 37

What does the alert message say?

Accepted Answer

Your contacts receive a text with your name, the time, and a Google Maps link to your exact GPS coordinates at the time of the event.

Question 38

What happens if I crash with no cell signal?

Accepted Answer

Crash detection works without a signal. Alerts send when your phone reconnects.

Question 39

Does crash detection drain my battery?

Accepted Answer

The accelerometer uses minimal power. GPS tracking has more of an impact, but it is comparable to any navigation app.

Question 40

What is Scout?

Accepted Answer

Scout is your in-app AI assistant. Ask it to plan a route, check weather along the road, find a gas station, look up your bike specs, log a service, or check for recalls. It responds in plain language and takes action directly in the app.

Question 41

What can I ask Scout?

Accepted Answer

Anything related to your ride. A few examples:
- Plan a scenic route to Fredericksburg
- Plan me a 100 mile adventure loop heading north
- What's the weather on my route?
- When is my next oil change due?
- Are there any open recalls on my bike?
- Find a gas station near me
- Add a lunch stop halfway through my route
- Turn on crash detection

Question 42

Does Scout know about my specific bike?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scout reads your garage on every message, year, make, model, specs, maintenance history, modifications, and NHTSA recalls. When you ask about tire pressure or service intervals, it answers for your bike, not a generic one.

Question 43

Can I talk to Scout with my voice?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tap the microphone icon to speak. Ask Scout to plan a route, check weather, log maintenance, or answer questions about your bike, all hands-free. During a crash detection countdown, Scout listens for you to say "I'm okay" to cancel the alert, or "help" to send it right away.

Question 44

Can Scout find gas stations or food near me?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ask Scout to find a gas station, restaurant, or any stop near you. It returns real business names and distances and can add the stop directly to your route.

Question 45

Does Scout have a personality?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scout is dry, direct, and a little worn at the edges. It talks like someone who's been riding a while, not like an app. It'll call a bad idea a bad idea and won't gush over a good one.

Question 46

Is there a limit to how many times I can use Scout?

Accepted Answer

Scout has a daily message limit that resets at midnight local time.

Question 47

Can Scout remember my preferences between rides?

Accepted Answer

Scout reads your garage, saved routes, and favorite locations on every message, so it always has context about your bike and regular destinations. It does not carry conversation history between sessions.

Question 48

Does Scout use my data for AI training?

Accepted Answer

No. Scout processes your messages in real time. Your conversations are not stored or used to train AI models. Your bike and ride data stay in your account.

Question 49

What languages does Scout support?

Accepted Answer

English at launch. Additional languages are on the roadmap.

Question 50

What powers Scout?

Accepted Answer

Scout is powered by Claude, from Anthropic. Garage specs and service intervals are filled in with Google Gemini. Recalls come straight from NHTSA.

Question 51

What bike information does the app track?

Accepted Answer

Year, make, model, nickname, odometer, fuel capacity, tire specs, oil type, service intervals, maintenance log, modifications, NHTSA recalls, and full dimensional specs including seat height, weight, and ground clearance.

Question 52

Can I have multiple bikes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as many as you want. Set your active bike in the Garage and Scout answers questions about that one specifically.

Question 53

Where does the spec data come from?

Accepted Answer

When you add a bike, the app looks up specs from vehicle spec databases and fills any gaps with AI. Service intervals are generated by Google Gemini for your specific year, make, and model. Recalls and owner complaints come from NHTSA. Bike photos come from Wikimedia Commons.

Question 54

Can I add a bike that is not in the database?

Accepted Answer

Yes. If your bike is not found automatically, enter all details manually. Every field is editable at any time.

Question 55

How do I set my active bike?

Accepted Answer

Tap the bike you want in the Garage. Your active bike is what Scout references and what appears on the ride screen.

Question 56

Can I log maintenance without using Scout?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open your bike in the Garage, go to the Maintenance Log, and tap Add Entry. Log any service type, date, mileage, cost, and notes manually.

Question 57

Can I export my bike's information?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tap the export icon on any bike to generate a PDF with all specs, maintenance history, modifications, recalls, and service intervals. Save it, AirDrop it, email it, or print it.

Question 58

Does the app store my VIN?

Accepted Answer

No. Time to Moto does not collect or store VINs. All lookups use year, make, and model only.

Question 59

How does ride recording work?

Accepted Answer

Tap Start on the ride screen, then tap Record. The app tracks your GPS path, speed, distance, time, and elevation in real time. When you stop, it generates a name and AI summary automatically. If you lost signal during the ride, the recording saves locally and syncs when you reconnect. After saving, the app takes you straight to your ride detail screen.

Question 60

Can I pause a ride?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pause and resume without losing your track or creating any gaps in the GPS path.

Question 61

Does the app write a summary of my ride?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every recorded ride gets an AI-generated summary written in first person. It is honest and dry, no generic language about epic adventures or incredible journeys. It generates automatically when you open the ride detail screen. You can edit it inline and it saves with your ride.

Question 62

Can I share my ride?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Open any recorded ride in the Routes tab and tap Share Ride. The app generates a visual card with a satellite map thumbnail, your ride name, AI summary, and a stats grid. Share to Instagram Stories, iMessage, or anywhere via the iOS share sheet.

Question 63

Does the app record elevation?

Accepted Answer

Yes. GPS altitude is captured throughout your ride and elevation gain is calculated from your track.

Question 64

Where are my saved rides stored?

Accepted Answer

Saved rides are stored in your account and accessible from the Routes tab across all your devices.
